By Valeria Romero

The regional director of the Salvadoran organization, COMCAVIS
TRANS, Bianka Rodríguez, was named the regional winner by the
Americas of the 2019 Nansen Refugee Award of the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

During Rodríguez's management at COMCAVIS TRANS, according to UNHCR, leadership capacities in the community have been improved to identify people at risk of forced displacement, internally displaced persons, and deported with protection needs to provide them with humanitarian aid.

"Thank you very much to all. This day is very important for me and for all the LGBTI population ... this award is for all those people who have had to pay with blood the lack of protection of all our rights," said the activist.
