BTS, the globally recognized K-pop group, has recently been attempting to win back its fame and celebrity. What's in store for the popular group?
We all know that K-pop has turned into a world phenomenon, everybody is aware
of this music genre, including me. I have always been open to new ideas and
music through the internet. I discovered a new hobby when I was first introduced
to k-pop. It has become apparent that their music has taken over the billboard
charts. It’s interesting to notice that BTS has come really far compared with other
k-pop groups.
They were the first boy group that their label debuted. Their music label is Big hit
entertainment, they didn’t have much money at that time and they weren’t that
famous compared to other groups from other big labels like JYP or YG
entertainment. Every day was a fight for survival due to the increasing
competition but they possessed a certain unique concept that nobody in the
industry had tried, they were a powerful hip-hop group with three rappers and
four vocalists .
Their debut song was “No more dream”, it was a strong song with a lot of meaning, it is an inspirational song that is sung to the youth to tell them to follow their dreams and ignore what society wants them to be, it is very related to the educational standards in South Korea since you are little you are expected to attend academies after school because they are required to excel in their studies. This creates a lot of pressure and stress in the youth, proving it’s a really strict and competitive system. Teenagers felt identified with them. This song was very controversial. Their next comebacks were full of energy that promoted hard work and values. They kept working very hard to reach the top, to succeed. While many people didn’t want them to succeed, they promoted rap in the idol industry, this was revolutionary since no other k-pop group had promoted rap as they did.
Finally, in 2017 they came to the American Music Awards, they won an award and
performed perfectly. After fainting in concerts, being so tired that they couldn’t
even stand up, after constant 9 hours of practice, they finally succeeded and were
recognized. This is why their fans often praise them since they are hard workers,
who are able to give all of themselves in performances. They are known to have
very hard choreographies. Their personalities are so unique and different, people
tend to fall with them not because of their performances but because of their
humor. Their songs have won many awards in South Korea showcases: with the
song “Boy with Luv” they won 21 awards.
After promoting their album “map of the soul: persona” in US and European
stadiums they announced a resting period. They got to perform in the Wembley
stadium, this shows their immense success. Fans were very comprehensive
towards their “hiatus” since the tour lasted for almost four months, constantly
traveling through the US, countries in Europe, and Brazil. You could imagine how
tired this was. Although it could perceive a sadness about their hiatus it was
received well. Suddenly one month later they announced a comeback, this
surprised many fans since they thought the hiatus would last seven months. Now
we are asking what is their next move, waiting anxiously for their new music
release and next concept. They are currently flying to somewhere unknown, but
we are excited and will be waiting for new updates!
